Projects

Here are items on which we are currently working!

As with any community, there are problems that need to be resolved here in the Eastern Fresno County region. Here is a list of those that are currently being discussed.

We are trying to help educate the Fresno County Tourism group to get recognition for Eastern Fresno County attractions and outdoor activities. At present they aggressively promote Yosemite and Sequoia-King's Canyon National Parks in both their Fresno County Tourism Guide and VisitFresnoCounty.org website. Although there are around 100 businesses, attractions and/or events in the Eastern Fresno County region, only three are mentioned in the above referenced publication and website.

Obtaining fire insurance for businesses and homeowners in Eastern Fresno County is nearly impossible. We are working with state and local resources to develop a fair and affordable fire insurance coverage solution.

We are trying to solicit new business to the region, preferrably gift shops, antique shops, perhaps a zip line venue, maybe a paint ball adventure, bike rentals, sled dog rides and other ventures that will provide a service and attract more tourists to the region.

Trash and litter are among the most common concerns in this region. Along with other community organizations, we are working with Fresno County Supervisor Nathan Magsig and his team along with Mid Valley Waste in finding potential solutions to this concern.

We are in talks with Fresno County Supervisor Nathan Magsig to see if additional parking locations can be developed, specifically within the community of Shaver Lake.

A Shaver Lake Recreational Trail project is being led by Marie Edwards to have a safe path from Ockenden through the Shaver Lake Village and on to Camp Edison. This would take unsafe foot traffic off Highway 168.

A committee is working on inviting organizations to put on events throughout the year that will benefit residents and visitors alike.

All these efforts take time and money. Member dues go to fund activities designed to enhance the quality of life and a better return for investors. Donations help to assist us in achieving our goals. There is strength in numbers, so please help us build that strength!
